2009: A Year in Review

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!

Today was spent baking while watching Christmas movies….

My mom and I made Peanut Butter Blossoms, Cookie Dough Truffles, Snickerdoodles, and Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies. Yum!

Also spent some time cuddling and playing with my favorite puppy! Can I still call her a puppy when she is seven years old? She’s still so cute and little!

As promised, I’m going to review 2009, but first:

Thank you to the blogging community and all of the wonderful friends I’ve met in my first few months as a blogger. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!

And now, 2009 in review! Actually, I’ve decided that I’m only going to review the past few months, since that is when I started blogging.

1. Dan and I took our engagement pictures on August 26. We love our photographer!

2. On September 1, I started my fifth and final year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I am also the VP of Internal Relations for the Society of Women Engineers.

3. On September 5, Savvy Eats was born. It is amazing how far my blog has come in just a few short months!

4. In September, I ran the Zoo Run Run 5K. My very first race!

5. In October, I did my longest bike ride yet: 57.36 miles! It was a very cold and rainy day, but I am so proud I stuck it out and made it the whole way!

I also ran my second 5K the next day, beating my previous time by a full two minutes.

6. Also in October, we officially decided to move to Ithaca, NY. Our cross-country move is kind of scary, but we’re so excited! We went out for a celebratory meal at HuHot when we made the decision.

7. Man, October was a busy month! I also spent a week in California. I stayed with Kari for the first half, and attended the Society of Women Engineers National Conference for the second half. The posts about the trip can be seen

Here, Here, Here, Here , Here, Here, Here, Here, and Here. Phew!

7. Finally, I ran my first 15K in October!

8. In November, I decided to go mostly-vegetarian. After my 30-Day No-Meat Challenge, I decided that I felt better when I ate less meat. Now, I only eat meat when it is high-quality and local. Essentially, I’ve had about 4 bites of meat in the past two months!

9. Last month, I also figured out what I want to do with my life.

10. In November, I wrote my first ‘Brain Food 101′ post: Egg-less Baking!

What were your big happenings in 2009?
