Welcome to everyone who has found me via my guest post on Fitnessista today about Injury Recovery!
Can I just point out that this is my first post-college blog post?

At my doctor’s appointment yesterday, my doctor theorized that I may have a food sensitivity that has been contributing to my health problems. I have been feeling sick off and on for about two years now, and while a large part of that is due to trying to find the right treatment for my hypothyroidism, it doesn’t explain the rest of it…but a food sensitivity might.
So per my doctor’s recommendation, for the next two-and-a-half weeks, I will be eating as follows:
- Lots of vegetables and lean proteins
- No dairy except for one serving of Greek yogurt a day
- Up to 2 servings of fruit a day
- No grains or quinoa
- No nuts
- No added sugar
- Grass-fed meat, when possible
- Eat every 3-4 hours
- Lots of water and tea
At the end of the 2 1/2 weeks, I will start adding foods back in to see what I’m sensitive to.
Not going to lie, this is going to be tough. But rather than looking at it as restrictive, I am trying to see it as two things:
A) A challenge. I’m going to have to get really creative with my meals if I don’t want to get bored!
B) An opportunity. I’ve been feeling sick off and on for about 2 years now. Figuring out what foods I’m sensitive too could make a HUGE difference!
I don’t want to go grocery shopping today, since I am going out of town tomorrow! So, I decided to go back to Brasserie V for lunch, since they use all local meat.
I ordered their Brasserie V II burger with no cream sauce, no cheese, and no bun, and their marinated vegetable salad as my side.

And of course, I had some Caramel Creme Rooibos on the side…yum!

How is the 25 Days of Push-Ups challenge going for everyone? Remember, it is never too late to join!
Today’s Push-Ups motivation:
Sometimes, I think the 30-60 second break between sets is even harder than the push-ups themselves, because patience is not my strong suit! I’ve solved this problem by putting on some fun music during the workout and dancing around during my breaks!

Tea Week will begin on Monday, May 17. I am happy to say that all the teas I will be talking about are now offered in my shop, including a special Father’s Day bundle so that you or dad can cold-brew your own tea for summer.
Also, I’ll be visiting my parents this weekend, so if any Minnesotans want to meet up sometime between Saturday and Wednesday, let me know!
Anyone have any recipe/snack/meal suggestions for my new dietary challenge?

What a great plan! I hope you find out what is making you feel sick! I might have to do the same thing the future- certain food items with too much fiber make me feel ick!
Gosh, that will be challenging! I really hope you solve the problem though!
Wow, that sounds tough! All the best!
I sometimes do not feel like my body can handle dairy well but I just love greek yogurt too much to toss it
YAY for your first post college post!!! AND soon enough you will be a married woman too! I’m so excited for you I could squeal. Weddings make me do that.
Anyway, good luck with your new diet, wishing you the best of luck! LOVE YOU!
I suggest another Good Earth meetup
Good luck with all the food issues, it can be a challenge but once you figure out what is making you feel icky it will be worth it.
Ouch! That is tough, but you can do it if it’s for your health
Good luck!
Ooh Ooh I want to meet up!! Did you ever live in Minnesota? As in, do you know the restaurants and all the good stuff here? I feel like I should do some googling to find an awesome restaurant we can hit up that will cater to your new dietary guidelines.
Yeay! This will be my first blogger meet up ever. Well, kind of. I’ll explain it to you when you get here. (PS feel free to email me!)
That’ll be a tough challenge, but two weeks is nothing compared to feeling bad for 2 years! Hope you figured out what it is!
Congrats on finishing college! Woohoooooo!
Oh gosh…I wish you the best of luck! Getting rid of grains and nuts would be sooooo tough for me (extreme lover of all things oatmeal and nut butter- related). I hope this lets you figure out what’s going on!
I think it will all be worth it. I am allergic to chicken but didn’t know it for about 4 years. Finally I thought it might be meat so eliminated ALL of it. It was tough at first but not feeling sick everyday made it worth it. Now that I know what it is, life is MUCH easier, happier and healthier now for me.
good luck with your elimination. i had a friend who started that a week ago. i am a little ticked as i just got off the phone and he hasn’t been doing it. Arg! that is not going to help him with anything. anyways, i hope you get the root of your issues. i think you will be able to stick to it fabulously!
Congrats on your post-college post, yay!! I hope you can figure out what is going on soon, nothing as frustrating as that. Did he mention any kind of allergy testing to really see what is going on? I know some RDs are certified to do LEAP testing which has helped a lot of people with food sensitivities. Have a great trip!
I think I might be eating similarly for a while (maybe a bit less restrictive). I’m probably going to post about it today or tomorrow. Long story short – I recently went off some medication and I’m trying to get my body to “snap back into shape” on it’s own. So that means goodbye to SOY (100%) and added sugar. Let’s keep each other posted, shall we?
I hope that you can figure out soon what is messing with your tummy – and good for you for looking at this as a challenge and opportunity rather than 2 weeks of torture!
Hmm. Why no quinoa? How is it going so far? My gluten free journey is going well so far, and I just looked at it as expanding my food options rather than shrinking them. I have learned about so many different flours that are gluten free, and a few other options regarding sauces and dressings. Good luck!
I was wondering that too, so I called my doctor and asked… She also wanted to look for an insulin resistance.
I actually haven’t started yet, because I wanted to see if the symptoms could be because of stress, and I didn’t want to get sick from adding all those foods back in at the wedding! So far, I’m actually feeling better, so it seems to be mostly stress-related…at least I hope so!
So happy to hear that GF is going well for you; I did it for 6 months last year due to an allergy misdiagnosis; it was tough, but it is how I discovered some of my favorite foods, like quinoa!
