In our house, people coming to visit = a very clean house + recently-completed projects.
Nick and Marisa’s visit in June pushed us to unpack more boxes + finish the pantries + start hanging pictures.
Dan’s mom’s visit last month was our drive for refinishing the dining table + getting even more organized.
And my parents’ visit in two weeks is motivating us to repaint the front porch + hang the rest of the pictures.
For the record, lead paint is not fun to scrape off a front porch. Especially if it has been painted over.
And yes, we did wear masks and gloves to avoid lead poisoning.
Between all these visitors, we have almost every box unpacked, and nearly everything in its place.
Last night, we focused on hanging pictures in the office + guest room, including:

This fun Ithaca print from the New Yorker, which we found in the same antique store as my most recent piece of Pyrex.

Inspiration boards (still need to finish putting things on them) + this “little things” print my mom gave me { before the Little Things series even began! }
And my new canvas filled with little ways to spark creativity on a daily basis, courtesy of BuildASign + Easy Canvas Prints.
Here is the original image {Printable here!}:

Bonus: it matches the current wall color of my office and will match the lighter and brighter blue that the walls will eventually be.

i LOVE your canvas. So very cool!!
Visitors/parties di the same for me
Love the canvas!
I love all of your wall hangings! I have to admit that I am envious of your yellow pin board. I love the little flowers on it!
julie, how did you make your pin boards? did you write a post about them?
I haven’t yet because I’m still working on the pins themselves. But it is on the editorial calendar for October, so the post is on its way!
hooray! i can’t wait to see it. our office/guest room needs a major rehaul and we’re having friends stay with us in november, so i hope to at least get it spruced up a bit by then!
