On Saturday morning, I wanted to do the 5K Fun Run or 1 mile walk, but my knee just wouldn’t have it! That was okay though, because that meant I got to sleep an extra hour… after a long Friday, no complaints there!
We started the day the same way any food or fitness blogger does… with breakfast! Quaker sponsored a delicious oatmeal bar, though I was missing my nut butter topping! I had a banana and tea on the side, as well.
We had a tiny bit of free time before the first session, so I wandered around the sponsors’ tables to chat with the representatives. I came away with more swag… a EatSmart Food Scale, EatSmart Bathroom Scale, POM juice and recipes, and a fitness DVD!
I also bought some goodies from the twins from pure2raw/ Twin Cakes bakery. So excited to try both of these vegan, raw goodies!
Then, it was off to the sessions! In each time slot, there were two sessions to choose from.
Session 1: Blogs, Accessibility, and SEO: Dispelling the Myths. I learned some great tips for increasing blog traffic, like uploading my photos with descriptive titles and using Alt text. Still a little confused about SEO, but not nearly as much as I was before!
Session 2: How to Pitch to Traditional Media. They focused largely on television media, rather than other print forms of media, but they had some good stories!
We broke for a lunch that had some great vegetarian options! I had a grilled veggie sandwich, some grilled veggies, and a great mushroom soup!
Session 3: From Blog to Book. I think this was my favorite presentation, because we got to see a bunch of different opinions on becoming a book author during the panel. My favorite panelist was Caitlin, and I’m not just saying that because she’s my friend. She was by far the most encouraging member of the panel!
And finally, Session 4: Monetizing Your Blog. There was a lot of information about how hard it is to make money off of your blog, but not much on how you could possibly make money off of it. However, Ted from Open Sky was very inspiring!
A group of us decided to pass on the closing speaker/reception, because we wanted to get out and enjoy the warm sunshine. The others wanted crab cakes, so we went to McCormick and Schmick’s.
Unfortunately, the vegetarian option was pasta with veggies and marinara sauce. That didn’t sound very exciting, so Caitlin and I decided to split a bunch of side dishes instead! I had a glass of Riesling with
half of this asparagus,
a slice of this bread with butter,
sweet potato casserole,
portabello mushroom “fries,”
and roasted fingerling potatoes.
It was very satisfying and delicious, and much more exciting than the pasta option!
We went out of the town on Saturday night, but I unfortunately don’t have any pictures to share. It was a great time, though!
Next up: Recap of an outdoor breakfast and a great lunch with some blogger friends!
Hi! I found you via Holly’s site. I live in Waunakee I’m not a blogger, just a blog watcher.
Your trip looks like so much fun. I would have loved to go to fitbloggin
Can I ask you a quick question? I saw in a past post that you had mentioned you saw Cocao Bliss in the grocery store. I’ve been looking (WF, Willy St, etc) but haven’t seen it anywhere. Any tips as to where I can find it?
Hi Alison, thanks for visiting my blog! I’m surprised they don’t have it at Willy St. I don’t know if I’ve seen it in Madison, but I have seen it at one of the grocery stores when I was home in MN (don’t remember which one), and at the co-op down the street in Ithaca the past three times I’ve been here…sorry I can’t be of more help!
Great post, and I’m glad you went out and enjoyed the sunshine. I was quite impressed with that part of Baltimore too, great restaurants and perfect weather go together. That food looks fabulous.
did you take notes at fitbloggin? this is something we should def go over during our blog planning/creative meeting sessions of the (very near) future.
i STILL haven’t read whits notes which have been saved in my favorites bar since she posted them. oops.

I miss it! That asparagus pic is great!
Looks like so much fun!
I love the idea of sharing side dishes to make your own vegetarian entree
Sounds like you had a great time! Good to hear!
