If I worked in an office, I would have taken a sick day yesterday. Boo for scratchy throats, sinus headaches and puffy eyes.
Because I work from home, I don’t really get sick days. However, I am lucky enough to have some flexibility in my work. My plan yesterday was to do a bunch of recipe testing and development, but I knew I needed to rest. Sometimes, the healthiest decision you can make is to tell yourself to rest and get better, don’t you think?
So instead, I lined up a glass of water, mug of OJ, mug of hot tea and a box of tissues on the end table. I cuddled up on the couch with the pup and some blankets, and got to work on my Savvy Blog Services and freelance work.
I did have a savory quick bread recipe lined up for you, but I tasted it again yesterday and the texture and taste was just…off. Worried that my cold was messing with my sense of taste, I asked Dan to take a bite, and he agreed that it needed some tweaking before I posted it.
Inspired by Brandi’s cooking challenge, I instead chose five recipes from other bloggers that I’ve been dying to make.

1. Baked Red Velvet Cake Doughnuts by Jessica. But first I need to get a doughnut pan!
2. Slow Cooked Chicken Fajitas by Heather. Crockpot meals are always awesome.
3. Pumpkin Bagels by Lauren. I love the pumpkin bagels from Ithaca Bakery, but I don’t think they’ll be available anymore come November 1!
4. Midnight Black Chocolate Pudding by Joy. And of course, I will serve it in Mason jars.
5. Apple Pie Bars from Jamie. They look like the autumn version of my beloved blueberry pie bars!

What blogger recipes have you been dying to try?

Pumpkin bagels?! Oh my gosh now I want to make those….
Oh man, they all look great!
I’ve been wanting to try the Cinnamon Roll Cupcakes (http://www.confessionsofacookbookqueen.com/2011/06/cinnamon-roll-cupcakes/) among many others in my recipe folder but I haven’t eaten breakfast yet so that one jumped out at me!
Those look delicious!
Pumpkin bagels?! I would definitely love to remake that! Loving your blog!
is blogging your job or do you work elsewhere?
It is a part of my job, but not the whole thing. I also do blog and header designs (Savvy Blog Services), am one of the admins for Healthylivingblogs.com, freelance write for SheSpeaks, do social media for Garlic Gold, and am doing a work-study position with cooknscribble.com.
yay for the cooking challenge! i have an awesome list going right now
Those pumpkin bagels look amazing. I’ve been too scared to try bagels, but reading through the directions, they don’t look too much harder than some soft pretzel rolls I’ve made a few times already (with success!) Must try soon!
Good for you for taking time off when you need it. I sure hope you feel better soon!
Ah, you don’t need a doughnut pan. Use a large cookie cutter for the outside and a shot glass for the hole. I baked doughnuts for my birthday last year and that’s how I did it.
As for bookmarked recipes, there are dozens. I have my eye on this grain-free pizza base because it intrigues me.
I hope you feel better soon!
That’s what I plan to do for some other recipes, but this particular one looks like the batter is more liquidy and wouldn’t hold its shape if it wasn’t in the pan? Not sure though.
