You may have noticed a bunch of tweets with the #SSFoodFight hashtag flying around on my Twitter feed yesterday. Through my freelance work with SheSpeaks, I was given the opportunity to be a panelist for the first of two Twitter parties promoting Aetna’s Healthy Food Fight contest.
I’m so excited to join in on the fun, and I think you will be, too! SheSpeaks and Aetna Healthy Food Fight are teaming up to find delicious healthy recipes made by America’s healthiest home cooks.
Your healthy entree recipe entries to the contest are analyzed and given a score based on their nutritional value. If you make it to the regional semifinals, you get to cook for a rep of the CIA. Not the government organization…the Culinary Institute of America. And even better? If you move on from the semifinals, you get to cook for Bobby Flay.
Yup, Bobby Flay.
Oh, and did I mention you could also win $10,000 in groceries? Yup, that’s even more awesome.
Now, for the details of the contest…
When you enter a recipe, it is given a score by the Healthy Recipe Analyzer. The most important features of your recipe, according to the Analyzer, are:
Calories per serving
Fat, carbs and protein
Sodium
There are four regions to compete in:
Pomona, CA: Submissions have already begun.
Dallas, TX: Submissions begin TODAY!
Atlanta, GA: Submissions begin September 9.
Philadelphia, PA: Submissions begin September 23.
To enter your recipe in any of these regions, click here! Even though I’m in Ithaca (three hours away from Philly), I know I’ll be entering my recipe on September 23!
Up to 48 cooks in each region will move on to the Semifinals. And the winner of each regional Semifinals will be sent to compete in front of Bobby Flay!
And if you make it all the way there and win the finals… you’ll receive $10,000 in groceries from Recipe.com!
So what are you waiting for? Get cooking and start entering!
