This garlic butter shrimp is the best type of dish for a dinner party. It looks fancy, and tricks people into thinking you spent hours preparing dinner. It tastes fancy and decadent, thanks to the garlic-laden butter sauce, with just a touch of paprika for a little smokiness. On the flip side, it only calls for 5 ingredients, and takes under 20 minutes to make. Serve it over pasta with some Parmesan, toss together a side salad and slice up some crusty bread, and your dinner party prep is done! At least the cooking part… if your dining room looks anything like our’s does at the moment, you may need to do some tidying up too.
And if you aren’t feeling fancy, you can make it a bit more rustic (and a bit healthier). Serve it over brown rice or quinoa, stir in some roasted broccoli or carrots, and you’ll have a filling weeknight dinner. Done and done.
Serve this shrimp over angel hair pasta with some Parmesan for an easy dinner party entree. Alternatively, stir the shrimp into cooked quinoa or brown rice with some roasted vegetables for a weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt & pepper
- Lemon juice
Instructions
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet. Add the shrimp and paprika and cook, flipping and stirring the shrimp regularly, until the shrimp is pink and opaque. Transfer to a bowl and season with salt and pepper.
- Melt the remaining butter in the skillet and add the garlic. Cook, stirring constantly, until the butter is just a shade darker. This should only take a minute, maybe 2 at the max.
- Toss the shrimp with the butter sauce and sprinkle with a bit of lemon juice.

This dish isn’t just a simple one but by far one of my favourite ways to serve up shrimp. We have done something similar several times and it is always a winner for us. Don’t you just love the colour the paprika gives?
Paprika is one of my favorite spices lately!
I love how quick and easy shrimp is to fix! This version looks very delish! I can’t wait to try it!
This is gorgeous Julie! And I can’t think of a better combo than garlic, butter, and SHRIMP!
Julie, what a yummy shrimp recipe. Just what my stash of smoked paprika has been waiting for!
I adore shrimp and would eat that entire bowl myself…fork optional!!
Thank you!
Oh my your shrimps looks so fantastically delicious. I am a shrimp lover of all kinds. This is a must try.
Drooling over these Julie, YUM!!
My husband is Spanish so I can see his smile now when I make hime this recipe. Smoked paprika with anything, but with shrimp… yum!
Mmmmmm…..garlic in shrimp and buttah! Nice touch with the paprika!
Thanks so much, Amy!
Julie. . now THIS is a gorgeous dish!!! I LOVE shrimp and love this recipe! Pinned!
You had me at shrimp, LOL I love how simple this is and Garlic butter shrimp is divine!!!
OMG, these look AMAZING!!!! Making me very hungry for shrimp. 🙂
OOOhhhhh…that looks so easy and so delish! I will definitely have to try this one
Oh wow that looks so good. I love shrimp. I bet the paprika makes it taste so good.
I don’t need anything else, I’ll just eat this pasta as is. You said garlic and butter. Can you need anymore?
Nope, garlic and butter is pretty much all you need, aren’t they?
Wow – what beautiful photos of this dish! Love them. And I love how quick and easy it is to make: isn’t it great when something that doesn’t take a lot of effort ends up impressing people, who think you slaved for hours for it!
It is the best!
Oh my gosh this looks perfect!!
I don’t need an excuse to eat more shrimp or garlic, but this would be a great one!
Well this looks absolutely delish. My husband will hate me because he claims to be allergic to shrimp, but I make it all the time anyways because I love shrimp. Too bad for him haha
More garlic butter shrimp for you, then!
Oh, so wish that ruddy shellfish allergy didn’t exist.
mmmm I love shrimp, and let’s be honest…garlic is the key to good flavor!
Garlic makes everything better!
Great ingredients, and what a terrific 5 ingredient or less entrée!
Yum, dinner tonight, Julie!
Enjoy!
I have been on a shrimp “kick” lately but have been running out of ways to prepare them. This will be the next one up!!
Over pasta with parmesan would be an excellent idea! Tay adores shrimp so she is begging me to put this on our to do list. 🙂
Enjoy!
I’ll pass on the salad and bread. All I want is a big bowl of this shrimp.
Ha, fair enough!
Looks like your shrimp came out perfectly!
This is one of my favorite ways to have shrimp! GREAT recipe, Julie!
These are gorgeous!
