When Clever Girls Collective asked for bloggers interested in reviewing a new memory preservation site, I signed up right away. I’ve always loved scrapbooking, but have found myself getting more and more behind in recent years. Maybe, I thought, I’ll keep up with my scrapbooking if I do it all online?
LiveOn allows you to create memories and add them to your timeline. And you aren’t limited to just photos and text like in a physical scrapbook; you can input voice recordings and videos as well.
You can also create a “tribe” of family and close friends, so that you can comment on each other’s memories and share photos and videos.
And in addition to “scrapbooking” all your memories, you can answer questions such as “If you had to describe your life in five places, which sites would you choose and why?” After a week or so of playing with the program, I’ve come up with a list of my favorite and least favorite parts of LiveOn.
What I Liked:
1. They have a great Live Chat to help you out when you have a question.
2. In addition to photos and texts, you can add voice recordings and videos. Can’t do that with a scrapbook!
3. You can send “time capsules” to family, friends or yourself to receive at a later date. Just like the time capsules we put together in elementary school, but in digital form.
4. You can get a hard-copy of your memories for safekeeping or for your relatives who are less digitally-inclined {for a fee}.
5. You can create a “tribe” of your family and close friends so that you can see and comment on each other’s memories, giving you a tribe-built digital scrapbook.
What I Didn’t:
1. Personally, I prefer the look and feel of a physical scrapbook. Then again, I’m the kind of person who hopes eReaders will never completely replace books because I love the feel of a new book so much.
2. Frustrating drag-and-drop. For some reason, I struggled greatly with getting photos to line up in the order I wanted within a particular memory. I’d scroll down to where I wanted the photo to go, and as I “dropped” it, it would scroll back up to a random point in the string of photos and land there instead. Occasionally, if I clicked on a photo to add a caption, the photo would randomly be moved to elsewhere in the line-up.
3. They’re still working some of the kinks out. However, so far they have responded very well to input and put out a few more tutorials and clarified how everything works.

I miss scrapbooking so much but there is just no room where I’m at to do it! I like blogging as a sort of scrapbook, so this site might be an option for more in-depth digital scrapbooking.
