Luigi Love

Last night, we lost our cockatiel Luigi. It came out of nowhere. He was molting/nesting at the bottom of the cage when Dan came home, and a few hours later, he was gone.

So this post is dedicated to Luigi.

Luigi, we will miss…

Hearing you mimic the microwave whenever we heat something up.

Watching you have conversation with inanimate objects, like my hand weights.

Watching you waddle (instead of walk) across the floor.

Laughing at you as you play under a Kleenex.

Being entertained by you walking up to my foot or knee and ‘talking’ to it for a good 5 minutes.

The times you’ve decided that Dan’s food or drink is your’s.

We will miss our little entertaining, independent bird. Love you, Luigi.

Oh, Julie. I am so, so sorry. Losing a pet is so hard. Luigi looked like a wonderfully charming, sweet bird.

I lost my pet parakeet of 10 years this past summer… we would occasionally bring his cage outside onto the porch with us while we were reading or eating out there. My mom did so one day, and left him out there for 30 mins while she did chores inside. When she came back, the cage had been knocked over and was in two pieces, and he was gone. It was pretty heartbreaking and she felt horrible, of course.

I hope Luigi and Jellybean are together in pet heaven.

Julie,

Luigi was such a handsome bird! I don’t know how long you guys had him as a pet but I know he had a wonderful life and was loved. And, it appears that he was quite a character!

As a child, I had a pet parakeet named, Charlie! Charlie lived for many years and was quite a joy! I don’t know if Charlie died of old age, a cold or illness brought on by a draft or maybe fumes from the kitchen when something burned. Those precious little souls are so fragile. When they get sick, there usually are no signs to alert us before they pass away.

Having pictures to capture those fun and cute moments really warm your heart. I have definitely enjoyed viewing them and I must say that I am very, very sorry for your loss.
