Max the healthy living dog

As you may recall, we adopted our dog Max in January.

They told us that he was 10 years old, but he certainly doesn’t act like it.  I think his healthy living habits have kept him young.

Or they were wrong.  They also told us he was neutered, after all, and that wasn’t the case.

But really, it is probably his healthy living habits.  Cases in point:

1.  If we had time, he’d happily go for 3- or 4-mile walks every day and still have energy to spare.  And this coming from an 8-pound, 12″-tall pup!

2.  He loves to go hiking.

3.  His favorite treats are carrots and apples.

4.  Though he’ll never turn down other fruits and veggies.

5.  He eats treats sparingly.

6.  He gets plenty of rest. PS:  That dog bed is one of my first sewing projects!

See? He’s a healthy living dog…destined to be adopted by a healthy living blogger!

My dog was meant for me, he loves fruits and vegetables and goes nuts when I bring out broccoli. Likes to be active and even sleeps the same way I do, on his side curled up. Pretty cute!

I can totally relate! During our cat’s first vet visit, she decreased his age from 3 to 1 and told us he wasn’t neutered…despite the humane society sending us home with medical records showing he was!

Olive is pretty much the opposite of Max. She will literally spit out veggies that we try to give her as a “treat” and she spends 80% of her day lounging on the couch. She is THE laziest dog that I know.

Max looks so sweet. My Skippy (beagle, dachsund, terrier mix) lived 13 years and though she wasn’t so healthy, she was always the happiest pup.
