Mighty Mighty Tea {Giveaway!}

I love tea.

If you’ve been reading Savvy Eats for awhile, you know that I’m not kidding. I mean, I wrote a whole week’s worth of posts about the topic!

So when Mighty Leaf offered to send me a sampling of their tea, I jumped at the chance.

I’ve always loved the rich, full-body of a good cup of chai, so first things first, I made a Bombay Chai latte. All it took was steeping one bag of tea in 6 oz of boiling water, then whipping in 1/2 c warm milk and a little sugar. So. Good. This tea may be a new favorite!

MightyLeafTea20.jpg

And when I want something chocolate-y and sweet in the evenings? Chocolate Mint Truffle Tea to the rescue. It has no caffeine, so I was able to satisfy my sweet tooth without disrupting my sleep schedule.

So far, I love all of the teas I’ve been sent by Mighty Leaf. A lot of flavored teas will smell fantastic, but the flavors are completely lost when the tea is actually brewed. However, every Mighty Leaf tea I’ve tried has been spot-on in both aroma and taste.

And while I usually opt for loose-leaf teas, Might Leaf’s bagged teas are packaged in larger sachets and the pieces don’t seem to be as finely crushed as most bagged teas, giving you a better cup of tea!

MightyLeafTea.jpg

In addition to drinking mug after mug of Bombay Chai, Rainforest Mate and Chocolate Mint Truffle, I’ve done some experimental cooking with some of the Vanilla Black tea that Mighty Leaf sent me. I’ll post the recipe later, but for now, here’s a hint:

MightyLeafTeaHint.jpg

I can’t wait to try some of these teas in some scones, cookies, or soup, too!

And, good news! Mighty Leaf is offering a fantastic giveaway package to one lucky Savvy Eats reader! The winner will receive:

To enter, simply leave a comment below telling me your favorite type of tea. I’ll choose a winner the afternoon of Friday, October 29!

If you simply have to have some tea, all of Mighty Leaf’s teas (bagged and loose-leaf) are on sale on their website for 25% off this week. I am definitely stocking up on some Bombay Chai and their Holiday 2010 Tea, which looks delicious!

And for a second chance to win some tea, Ashley is hosting the same giveaway over at her blog–check it out!

There is a green roasted chocolate mint tea that I LOVE from “the tea spot” a local Boulder company. I also love plain Japanese Green Sencha. mmmm I haven’t infused any baked goods with tea yet, but it sounds like such a good idea.

I really wish we had a local tea company–the one food-related company that Ithaca doesn’t have!

And as for baking with tea? Do it…sooooo good!

Once upon a time, I worked for a company that ordered catered food on an almost daily basis. The caterers tea supplier was Mighty Tea, and my coworkers and I were obsessed. To the point that we would snatch every tea packet they would bring us. When I left the company, I emptied my stash of tea bags into a box, and found that I had accumulated over 50 bags of tea in 3 months.

My favs: organic mint, vanilla bean and orange dulce.

One of my favorite teas is the Plantation Mint by Bigelow. I love fall teas and other spicy teas, but this one has tons of memories attached to it. I used to make it at night at my parents house and load it up with sugar. Yum.

I love green teas and chai teas. But recently I discovered Coconut Oolong tea and I have been in love with it. I also drink my tea with almond milk to make it creamier and it’s sort of like a light latte.

Zhena’s Gypsy Tea makes a pumpkin spice blend that I adore. I went through two tins of it in two weeks (and this is brewing each tea bag three times, to get maximum usage out of the flavor). I may or may not have a problem.
