After reading Angela’s ’10 in 2010‘ post, I decided that I should do one of my own. There are a lot of life changes coming up for me in 2010!
My top 10 goals/plans for 2010 are:
1. Graduate on May 15, 2010. This will be me next semester:

2. Get married on May 30, 2010.
May is going to be an insane month. Seriously.
3. Move from Madison, WI to Ithaca, NY in early June, 2010. Our apartment will be the second floor of this building.
4. Run my first half marathon (the Disney Princess Half Marathon on March 7). I’m all signed up and ready to go! Running with Kelley, Amanda, Katie, and some of Katie’s friends, followed by a 4-day Disney Cruise.

Blogger meet-up that weekend is in the works… stay tuned!
Anybody else running this race?
5. Bike through Italy. More details to come, but I will say we are planning to spend 8 days biking in Italy starting on September 30!
6. Write more of my “Just Eat It: Brain Food 101” articles. The science + writing combo is perfect for me, and I can’t wait until I’ve graduated and have more time to devote to the research that goes into each article!
7. Learn more about wine. I enjoy wine, but I really don’t know anything about it. The food scientist in me can’t accept that, so I need to pick up some wine knowledge! Suggestions on the best way to do this? Tastings? Any particular books or classes that would help?
8. Keep our new apartment clean and organized. A new apartment means a new start. We’ll be getting rid of a lot of ‘stuff’, clearing out old papers, and decorating our apartment to get it to full potential. I’ve started reading lots of home improvement, DIY, and interior design blogs for inspiration!
9. Get published! If I want to pursue food writing, I need to start getting articles published in magazines, newsletters, and websites. My goal is to have at least 5 published articles by the end of 2010.
10. Become a better ‘yogini.’ I’m loving yoga, and am toying with the idea of becoming a trained yoga teacher. Before I get to that point, though, I need to improve my personal yoga practice! I hope to do more yoga, take more classes, and learn more about it in 2010!
And for good measure, let’s throw in two more.
11. Attend a blogger conference. I’d love to go to the Healthy Living Summit or the Foodbuzz Festival, among others.
12. Find a volunteer organization that is a good fit for me. After May, I won’t have student organizations providing me with boatloads of volunteer opportunities. I want to find an org in Ithaca to volunteer with that means a lot to me!
So there you go, my 10 12 biggest goals for 2010. It is going to be a busy year, that’s for sure!
What are your goals for the new year?
And, if you haven’t seen it yet, check out Meghan’s Friday Foodie Feature — I’m this week’s featured foodie!
THose are great goals, girl! Bring on 2010!
Great goals! A few of mine are quite similar, actually!
One of them being the yoga- I think I am going to go to Inner Fire, so we should do some classes together!
Also, I know I’ve seen your apartment pics before but just wanted to say ADORABLE!
Isn’t the feeling of getting rid of stuff and starting new so refreshing?! Love that.
i love this post- good idea
You have some awesome goals girl! You are sure going to keep yourself busy
Your apartment looks so adorable and cozy! I love the flooring. I’m so jealous of your biking through Italy!!! My dream is to one day go there
I would love to learn all their grape varietals. Even though they are a bit different than French and California wines, it would be really interesting to learn about wines there. The best way to learn is to taste taste taste! Or if you can go on a tour
It’s such fun learning about different wines. I’m trying to learn how to pair them with foods. Another goal of mine is to train for a sprint tri. Hope you had a wonderful holiday!
Great list! I should make a similar one for myself!
Great goals!! What an exciting year coming for you! I really need to think about my goals and get them written down!
This was a great post! You have a big year ahead of you, and I look forward to reading more about it!
This is such a fabulous list, my friend!! I am so excited for your celebration-filled, passion seeking, full-of-wonders 2010!! I will be routing you on through it all!!
Am currently at DFW, still. Current goal for 2010- do not board incorrect plane. Ever again.
since you are not on gchat because you are currently soaking up time with the fam as you got home just a few hours ago (keep in mind: this is all assumed) i will now communicate with you via this comment.
first of all, if your page views have gone up an awful lot today, you will note that once again, i started at the begining of your blog and am working my way back, post by post.
THIS TIME its because i am on a mission for my favorite of your food photos.
i will explain this to you indepth sometime this weekend, im sure, but the short story is- i am obsessed with the idea of decorating my apartment with the creative work of the people I love. I have a painting for my friend Tim, and a photo from Michelle Palmer Photography, not to mention my Jenna Cole prints of me and the girls…
and ive been dreaming of making my kitchen look pretty by displaying photos of great food by my great blends. i already have a list of photos of yours im going to steal.
and by steal, i mean, of course, ask for your permission.
anyway.
i had ALMOST forgotten taht i was an idiot this december and boarded the wrong plane. ALMOST. until i read this.
humility at its finest.
and by “not board the wrong plane” i of course mean, TRY REALLY HARD not to. i cant make any guarentees.
Ha, I went back to read this post to see where I mentioned the “Heather boarded the wrong plane” thing. Then I realized you mentioned it in your first comment.
I LOVE your photo idea for the kitchen. Brilliant! I’d be happy to contribute photos
Hi i read your blog often and wanted to say all the best for 2010!
Hey! Looks like you’re having a great year planned for 2010. I wanted to let you know that you might want to look into Cornell’s wine class…I think it’s run through their hospitality school. It’s actually a really challenging course, and for all I know it’s for students only, but I knew a girl that took it and she learned a lot about wine…and they did tastings in every class! If that’s not an option, definitely take advantage of living in NY’s wine country…go out to the wineries and ask lots of questions! My favorite winery in the Ithaca area is Lucas.
