One of the biggest things that gardening has been teaching me is PATIENCE. You have no choice but to be patient when you are growing your own vegetables and herbs!

But look, we’re starting to see some growth in the garden!

Pea Shoots Carrot Tops

Pea shoots and carrot tops (when they get a little bigger, I will need to thin them out)

Baby Tomatoes  Basil

Baby cherry tomatoes and basil

Spinach Shoots Zucchini Blossoms

Baby spinach plants and zucchini blossoms

Baby Kale Chives

Baby kale plants (!!!) and chives

Calendula

Calendula…aka edible flowers

I think the prettiest vegetable plants in the garden are the brussels sprouts. Not to mention how tasty they’ll be when I can harvest them and roast them up. :)

Brussels Sprouts

I’m so excited to see things start to blossom and set fruit more and more! Some of the things I am growing are already in season and available in the farmer’s market, but aren’t doing much in my garden. I keep reminding myself that we planted our garden a little late this year, and that I just need to wait it out… I’ll get my homegrown vegetables and herbs soon enough!

so exciting to see all the lovelies growing in the garden… I love walking out to my yard and just picking a couple tomatoes, a few basil leaves… coming in and within a few minutes, bruschetta! :) it’s just all exciting.

Do you eat the zucchini blossoms? I’ve heard they can be quite good, but haven’t tried them yet!

I haven’t tried either, I’ve seen people make them and I want to… aren’t they generally battered or stuffed & fried? when mine start coming in this year maybe I’ll try… baking them… :)

Most of the recipes I’ve seen are for fried blossoms… but maybe I’ll experiment!

There is nothing like the feeling of growing your own food, is there? Your garden looks wonderful! :)

Congrats on your little plant babies! How fantastic! I can’t wait to see how big they are in a few weeks, and I’m super jealous of all the fresh veggies and such you’ll have!

I see a green thumb! I farm vicariously through my grandmother’s garden. There is NOTHING better than fresh picked and homegrown.

You garden looks great – productive.
I so glad to have fresh basil again.
We’ve also planted spinach, chard and peppers.
I hope the squirrels leave them alone.
