On Friday night, Dan went to pick up paint for the dining room while I got started on painting the corners and around the trim in the office.
Less than four hours later, we were done painting the entire room. How about that.

We didn’t tape off the trim or cover most of the floor for a few reasons:
1. The floor is incredibly scuffed up and dingy, so we’re going to repaint it soon. What’s a few blue spatters? (Though we didn’t end up with any on the floor after all).
2. I thought I could be neat enough with our little angled brush that I could avoid getting paint on the trim. Hah! Um, yeah. I am definitely not neat and precise enough to paint without taping off the trim. I don’t know how Sherry does it!
So now the sides of the trim are blue. Partly because I got paint on them, and partly because they were painted brown instead of the off-white of the rest of the trim, and that just looked weird. We don’t have time to repaint the trim before Thanksgiving!

I LOVE this color blue. It is Behr Premium paint matched to Valspar’s “Shark.” By the bay window, it looks like a pale blue.

On the other side of the room, it has a gorgeous silvery blue color. Love.

The dining room is done too, but that post is going to take awhile… there was a LOT of masking involved, and several coats of paint…

What a difference! Looks beautiful:)
I love your sign in the first pic… I actually experienced one of those “little moments” while trying to read your post…. right when I started reading (didn’t even get through the first sentence) one of my cats (my only kids right now) jumped on my desk and wanted to be petted. I picked him up and was holding him my arms and he stayed… usually he pushes away right away. Ended up cuddling for 10 mins before I could finish reading your post… and I needed those 10 mins. I have been dragging (not enough sleep) all day and I have a huge to do list before we leave out of town tomorrow and just was not in a good mood…. Prince (the cat) must of known I needed than “little moment” to recharge…. I also tried to pick him up again before I started posted a comment and he would not have it… apparently he also knows I no longer need his attention!
Also, I love that subway art print you have in the 2nd and 3rd pictures….. did you find that somewhere or make it? I love it and would love a printable of it (if possible!)
The room looks great… that blue will really make that a relaxing space for you!
Your sweet comment just made my day; I love hearing how the “little things” cheered someone up or made their day better!
And that artwork is available as a printable! You can find it here: http://www.savvyeat.com/creative-inspiration/ I’d love to see a photo of what you do with it!

Such a pretty blue! I love painting! Okay not the actual painting a whole room part…but the end result is always great. A fresh new color makes it feel like a whole new room!
I like the signs on your wall too. Did you make those?
I didn’t mind painting this room…it was the dining room that took FOREVER. And you’re right, they do feel like brand new rooms!
The little things sign was a gift from my mom a few years ago, and I designed the “stay creative” one. There is a printable of it here: http://www.savvyeat.com/creative-inspiration/
I just painted most of my loft in Benjamin Moore’s Sweet Bluette and it is very similar…just a very subtle light blue with gray undertones. It is absolutely perfect and I am obsessed with it! I love the color you chose for you office! So calming and serene. Love your wall hangings too
