While I’m on my honeymoon in Italy, I have lined up some great guest posts for you.  For the next week and a half, I will be posting 1 or 2 “Savvy Spotlights” a day, highlighting some of my readers and blog friends.  You may see another fun post or two mixed in there as well. :)

I’ll start recapping our Italy trip when I return.  Have a great week!

I met Gracie at Fitbloggin’, and we were reunited at the Healthy Living Summit.  Love her!

Q.  Introduce yourself!

HI! My name is Gracie, and I’m the owner of GirlMeetsHealth.com. I’m a twenty-something on a mission to maintain a healthy yet fun and fulfilling life. I’m also an East-Coaster, a cat lover, and a bargainista…among other things :)

Q.  Savvy Eats approaches the concept of healthy living from the standpoint of “Smart Food, Smart Fitness, & Smart Life.”  What does ‘savvy living’ mean to you?

To me, savvy living is all about aiming to increase quality of life. As my blog title points to, health is one of my main priorities. However, my defintion of health is one that includes not just nutrition and fitness, but also mental, emotional, and spiritual health. So *my* savvy life is one where health is a piece of the puzzle that helps the other pieces fall into place.

Smart Food:

Q: What is your “go-to” meal?
I have two – both of which include ingredients that I always have stocked. The first is loaded yogurt (also known as a “yogurt mess” in the blogging world). I start with a base of Greek yogurt and mix in things like fruit, nuts, nut butter, cereal, oats, etc. My second go-to meal is one that involves eggs – usually an omelet or fritatta. I take pretty much any veggie and/or beans, add it to 1-2 beaten eggs, and top with cheese for a quick and delicious meal.

Smart Fitness:

Q.  There are a lot of ways to stay fit: running, cycling, yoga, Zumba, strength training, and more.  Which is your favorite, and what tip would you give a beginner?
My favorite forms of exercise are walking, Yoga, and strength training…but I’d have to say my number one pick is Pilates. I love Pilates because it sort of combines all three of those other favorites. It provides the cardio found in walking, the stretching found in Yoga, and is a great way to strengthen and scuplt your body.

My tip to a beginner in Pilates is to take a class – preferably a more intense class (i.e one that includes fast-paced strength moves as opposed to mostly stretching).

Smart Life:
Q.  Julie and Dan are currently on their dream vacation: cycling through Italy!  What is your dream vacation?

My dream vacation involves the following: relaxation, beautiful scenery, beautiful people, and good food. I’m a simple gal, really :) More specifically, some places I dream of visiting are Greece, Austria, Iceland, and Spain.
Q.  Anything else you’d like to share about yourself, your blog, etc?
Sure! Let’s see…
1. I’m a big believer in not fearing fat – not even “bad” saturated fat.
2. I don’t use Google Reader (not yet, at least!).
3. I wrote my senior thesis on the potential ramifications of Oprah Winfrey’s spiritual prescriptions on her audience.
4. I live for eating dessert, but I could do without chocolate.
5. Growing up, I wanted to be a meteorologist.
6. I love making lists ;)
Thanks Julie! I hope that Dan and yourself have the best time of your life!!
xoxo, Gracie
