While I’m on my honeymoon in Italy, I have lined up some great guest posts for you. For the next week and a half, I will be posting 1 or 2 “Savvy Spotlights” a day, highlighting some of my readers and blog friends. You may see another fun post or two mixed in there as well.![]()
I’ll start recapping our Italy trip when I return. Have a great week!
Q. Introduce yourself!
Greeting y’all! I’m Nichole. I’m a Sagittarius and enjoy long walks on the beach. Kidding, ha! I am a twenty-something gal working to take fitness and well-being in stride. I am extremely passionate about being outdoors, travelling …and good wine. I live in Georgia with my cute-as-crap Jack Russell, Indiana Jones (he’s a Dr) and my hubs. Right now I am geeking out over fall weather and UGA football. Go Dawgs!
Q. Savvy Eats approaches the concept of healthy living from the standpoint of “Smart Food, Smart Fitness, & Smart Life.” What does ‘savvy living’ mean to you?
Living savvy means living for your “self.” This isn’t a selfish thing, I promise. Life is a balancing act where every person has different wants and needs. It’s important to listen to what YOUR body wants; only you know your limitations. Savvy Living is a lifestyle where you stop saying and start doing.
Smart Food Q. What is your ‘go-to’ meal?
It took me some time before I had a healthy habit down, but if there is one thing I can pick-up and feel good about noshing on, it’s yogurt. The best part about yogurt is you can go plain, you can add toppings, you can go fro-yo, etc. Yogurt is a category on its own. But I guess it’s best in the frozen form…
Smart Fitness Q. How do you get yourself motivated for a hard workout?
I have a touch of a competitive streak in me and when I want to push myself I try to think about what my competition is doing. I am less likely to skip a workout knowing that there are others out there working on their skills or training for a race I am getting ready for. I also visualize my workout, map my minutes, which gives me a game plan to execute at the gym, outside or at home.
Smart Life Q. Julie and Dan are currently on their dream vacation: cycling through Italy! What is your dream vacation?
Cycling through Italy is a tough dream vacation to beat, and after traveling my buns off this summer I am still itching to go to Italy and stroll/drink my way through the vineyards. Cycling through a vineyard, now that sounds almost perfect. Or I’d settle for Germany and a beer garden. Tasty! Call me Carmen Sandiego, you can take me anywhere.
Q. Anything else you’d like to share about yourself, your blog, etc?
Running, working out, etc. is not for everyone. We all maintain different schedules – it’s the spice of life. Running doesn’t define me. Sometimes I run because it’s as simple as having something to do. Don’t fall into a comparison trap or go on a guilt trip because you are in a rut. Do what makes you happy, whatever floats your boat. Involve yourself in something that you are passionate about. If you have an urge, feel free to run on over to Livefortherun.com!
