While I’m on my honeymoon in Italy, I have lined up some great guest posts for you.  For the next week and a half, I will be posting 1 or 2 “Savvy Spotlights” a day, highlighting some of my readers and blog friends.  You may see another fun post or two mixed in there as well. :)

I’ll start recapping our Italy trip when I return.  Have a great week!

Q. Introduce yourself!

Hello Savvy Julie readers! This is Monica from Run, Eat, Repeat. My blog is about running, eating and enjoying life’s adventures. I would say I try to balance eating healthy 80% of the time and fun stuff 20%, but I’m definitely far from perfect on this one.

Q. Savvy Eats approaches the concept of healthy living from the standpoint of “Smart Food, Smart Fitness, & Smart Life.”  What does ‘savvy living’ mean to you?

Savvy living means being smart about your food, exercise and life choices. We should all take responsibility for our actions and ultimately aim to be proud of our choices.

Smart Food Q. What is the most creative meal you’ve made to date?

My most creative dish thus far has to be Chickpeas and Eggs. It’s a recipe originally adapted from a magazine, so I didn’t create it, but it combines three of my favorite things – chickpeas, tomato sauce and eggs. The first time I made it my husband was a little weirded out, but even he thinks it’s great!

Smart Fitness Q. There are a lot of ways to stay fit: running, cycling, yoga, Zumba, strength training, and more.  Which is your favorite, and what tip would you give a beginner?

Running! I love running and am currently training for my third marathon. Beginners often email me for advice and I always say the same thing. I didn’t start running. I started walking after high school because I wanted to lose weight. I walked for months on a treadmill until one day I got bored. I tried to run and little by little built up my mileage to get where I am today.

There is nothing wrong with walking breaks and Rest days (no running) are a must. Treat yourself right and your body will respond in kind.

Smart Life Q. Julie and Dan are currently on their dream vacation: cycling through Italy!  What is your dream vacation?

Oh my gosh this is a difficult question! I dream about traveling all the time (often on my long runs). Ben and I have been to many amazing places already and I have to say that Costa Rica has been my favorite so far.

Right now I obsessed with going on an African Safari and/or traveling through South America and climbing Macchu Piccu!

Q.  Anything else you’d like to share?

I love writing, running and sharing my story on the blog. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at www.runeatrepeat.com or email me at runeatrepeat@gmail.com
