Remember my editorial calendar for September? It was my little experiment to see if it would make my blogging stronger.

And you know what? I think it did. There were still a few days where I had to rush a post, and I missed a few afternoon posts while my parents were here. But overall, I was proud of and happy with 95% of the blog posts that went up.
A few things that really helped with my scheduling and planning:
1. I didn’t end up penciling in recipe categories and replacing them with the actual recipe title, like I had planned. Instead, I wrote in some recipe ideas and tried to keep at least 3 days ahead on my recipes. I currently have perfected recipes ready to go for two days next week {soon to be three}!
2. Getting ahead on my recipes has made my recipe posts even stronger. If I’m not 100% happy with the recipe or the photos, I have time to go back and make it again without feeling rushed to get it posted for the very next day.
3. I really like having afternoon posts for my Little Things series, DIY projects and random life updates. Having Little Things and DIY posts written in to my calendar really drives me to get my projects done, and I like leaving a few days open for whatever is happening that week. I hope you’re enjoying them too!
4. I’ve been setting aside photo-editing time. My little laptop can’t handle having Photoshop open at the same time as anything else. So, when I have photos ready for a few posts, I shut everything else down and just focus on the photos. Then I’m not fighting with a sloooooooooow computer multiple times a day.
In short, the editorial calendar seems to be working for me, and I’m going to keep it going. In fact, I’ve already started filling in my October calendar!

Do you use an editorial calendar? How do you stay organized and on top of things?

Good for you! Glad it helped
I love using calendars to help me stay organized!
I love using calendars and planners. I am starting to use an editorial calendar for my blog, which has been exceptionally helpful. My post today was written and ready to be published on Wednesday – but I had to wait until today to put it up!
I go back and forth between using an editorial calendar and not. Sometimes I find it so helpful to keep me on track and other times I like being more spur-of-the-moment. In those cases, I just shift things around. Such a cute October calendar!
I shifted things around a lot last month! It mostly helps me remember what content I want to produce and approximately when… especially helpful when I want to cook, but can’t think of what to make. I just look at the calendar then!
Aren’t you organized?!! I’m so jealous. Lately, it has been a blog when you have time thing for me. Working 55 hrs/week + Ironman training leaves little time for blogging and I miss it!!
You are a very busy lady! Miss you!
