Over the weekend, I added a new feature to the blog. See this in the sidebar?

These are the posts I have shared recently in Google Reader. So now, even if you aren’t following me in Google Reader (though if you want to, click here!), you can see some of my favorite recent posts. Kind of like an everyday “Savvy Selections.”
If readers click on a post title, they will be taken directly to the post on the blog it came from. If they click “view all,” they will see everything I have shared in Reader.
Want to add one to your own site?
Step 1. Go into Google Reader and click on “People you follow.”
Step 2. Click on “sharing settings”

Step 3. Scroll to the bottom of the page to where it says “Your shared items page.” Click on “Add a clip to your web site or blog.”

Step 4. Add a title and choose the color and number of items for your widget.
Note: I selected “show item notes” so that readers will see any notes I made when I shared the post. You can also choose to show where the posts came from (“show item sources”), but I felt like both the sources + notes looked too busy for my site.

Step 5. Copy the code you are given and paste it into a text widget on WordPress. Click save and you’re done!

Do you share posts on Google Reader?
And, anyone know how to do this in Blogger?

Love this idea! THanks for sharing!
Thanks for this tip! I just learned about Google Reader last week which is the best invention and this just made it even cooler.
you know i’m a big fan of the share!
I don’t even know what ‘sharing posts’ on GR is… but I can sorta take a guess. So, these aren’t all your posts I take it. Thanks for the tutorial though
At the bottom of every post in Google Reader, there are “share” and “share with note” buttons. That way, you can let your Google followers see what posts you’ve enjoyed lately. I’ve discovered so many awesome blogs from seeing my friends’ shares!
Oooh! The interwebs, so magical. Good info, thanks!
Cool! I didn’t know about sharing posts in Reader. Thanks for sharing the info and your fave posts!
Awhile ago, I set up a separate shared feed for sharing articles I think my blog readers would like, which I have a widget for on my blog. Some of those posts make it into my Highlights post every week.
Also, when you look at adding clips for specific folders/tags (which is how I set up my shared posts), there’s a Blogger option!
