Do you want to be a Badger (aka: Madison resident/student)? Well… *cue music*

See, Bucky wants to be an engineer, too!

I volunteered at SWE’s Day on Campus all day today. We invite all of the high school senior girls who have been accepted to the College of Engineering to give them a taste of campus and engineering. It is one of my favorite SWE events!

This year, we decided to invite our favorite mascot, Bucky Badger, and some of the marching band to play some of the songs traditionally played at our football games. It was so much fun to dance around!

Smart Food

The past two days have been Wisc-tastic. In addition to dancing around with Bucky, I went to an event last night devoted entirely to grilled CHEESE.

Holly was awesome enough to get me on the attendance list for the launch party for the new Grilled Cheese Academy website. We also ran into Mel from Bites of Life!

The chef of L’Etoile, a French restaurant on Capitol Square, had developed 30 gourmet grilled cheese recipes specifically for the website. We got to taste about 8 of the sandwiches, and most of them were paired with a beer sample as well (Beer. Another sign you are at a Wisconsin-specific event). I had a hard time getting pictures of the samples, but I did get pictures of the signs for each of them.

My favorites?
As far as cheese samples went, my favorite by far was the BellaVitano Raspberry. I love the New Glarus Raspberry Tart Ale, and you can’t go wrong with a good cheddar…and the two combined? Fantastic.

And when it came to the sandwiches, I favored the Lil’ Kahuna (Pepper Jack, pineapple, bell peppers on Hawaiian bread) and

the Francesca (Mozzarella + pepperoni + shiitake mushrooms on rosemary foccacia)

But none of these were QUITE as delectable as….

The Bianca. Marscapone, dulce du leche, and raspberry preserves on Cinnamon Raisin bread? Yes please. Amazing. We all may or may not have had 3 or 4 tastes of that one…. ;)

Smart Fitness

I have been crazy-busy the last few days and haven’t squeezed in an “official” workout, but I have been on my feet A LOT in the past two days, which is at least something!

This weekend, I am in Champaign, Illinois for the SWE Regional Conference. Unfortunately, we did not win our bid to have the 2011 Regional Conference in Madison, but that’s OK! I’ll be back tomorrow, but until then, here is the video we used for our bid. Like my stint as ‘Iowa?’

That is the million-dollar question for a lot of us, isn’t it? For instance, I am nearing the end of my undergraduate education.  In May, I will have a Food Science & Engineering degree from a great school.  I have worked so hard for the past five years to do well in school, get great [...]

Sorry about my lack of post last night; it was a busy day and I was sleepy!  So here’s a quick recap.  The more exciting stuff is further down Yesterday’s Eats: I was super-hungry all day, and I’m not quite sure why… Granola, berries, and peach Chobani AB & Preserves on a Sandwich Thins (smushed [...]

Today has been a super-busy day, so this is the first time I’ve had a chance to sit down and blog! Fall Ball! The dance last night was so much fun, and Wendy did a great job planning it.  We held it at the Overture Center this year, which was a much better location than [...]
