Tea-Infused Hot Chocolate

Tea and chocolate, all in the same beverage?

Yes, yes indeed.

I used a vanilla rooibos, so the tea added a creamy vanilla flavor to the hot chocolate. The tea flavor is subtle, but there.

Not only is this a delightful afternoon snack or dessert, but it also gave me a chance to try out the straws that Glass Dharma sent me. The straws are eco-friendly, beautiful and easy to clean. I’ve found that using a straw helps me keep hydrated all day for some reason, so I’ve had one in my water glass and one in my hot chocolate or tea mug all day today. I’m loving them!

Tea-Infused Hot Chocolate

Serves 1

1 1/2 teaspoons loose-leaf tea, or 1 tea bag
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons shaved chocolate or mini chocolate chips
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon granulated sugar

If using loose-leaf tea, put it into a mesh tea ball. Steep the tea ball or bag in the cold milk for 10-15 minutes. Remove the tea.

In a small saucepan over medium-low, heat the cocoa powder, chocolate and sugar with half of the milk, stirring until the chocolate is melted. Add the rest of the milk and heat until warmed through.

Pour into a mug and enjoy the creaminess!

What’s your favorite afternoon pick-me-up?

yum, that looks comforting and delicious. It’s been warm here, so my favorite afternoon pick me up lately is a cold Kombucha!

This looks delightful! What a great idea. I bet this would be delicious made with Chocolate Mint Truffle tea.

My usual afternoon pick-me-up is a cup of strong Japanese sencha tea.
