Tea-riffic Tuesday

I’m meeting with a new sports medicine doctor tomorrow morning to figure out what is going on with my IT band/knee. Hopefully I’ll be able to bike again soon; Dan and I have TWO 2-day charity rides tentatively lined up for this summer, plus Italy in the fall, and I want to start training! So wish me luck!

Tea-riffic Tuesday

I used to drink tea the way I drink my coffee: loaded with milk and sweetener. Not the healthiest drink, for sure, but I just couldn’t get over the bitter taste of either.

Now, I still don’t enjoy black coffee. But I have, somehow, arrived at the point where I most enjoy tea with minimal or no sweetener, and no milk at all!

So recently, I have been drinking tea like it is my job. Herbal, green, rooibos, black…I just can’t get enough. Now that it doesn’t have all the extra added sugar and calories, I find it to be a healthy replacement for some of the plain water I drink All. Day. Long.

Plus, now that I am drinking my tea “straight,” I can appreciate the flavor complexities of each tea more.

So what do I think of some of the teas I have been sampling lately?

And now, I’m off to have a mug of Herbal Revive. :)

What’s your favorite kind of tea?  Do you drink it ‘straight,’ or with milk and sugar added?

I want to compile a list of ‘must-try’ teas, so tell me what your favorite brand/flavor is!

Try Mighty Leaf tea. My favourites are: Organic Tropical Green Tea, Organic African Nectar and Chamomile Citrus.

So good.

I was just looking at their Chocolate Truffle teas today! Have you tried them?

The tropical green tea sounds yummy too!

I haven’t actually. I’m in Canada and I have a friend who lives in the states that sends me their tea. I’ll have to make a request for that one. Sounds yummy.

The green tea is really good. Actually all of them are really good. Defiantly recommend them.

I love tea too! Only I still drink my Early Grey with a dash of milk. I never used to, but it’s something I picked up in England and now can’t seem to stop. Marquette’s coffee shop served Rishi tea, and my absolute favorite was their Tangerine Ginger. Now when I visit MU I make a point of going to the Brew to get some!

Is it weird that I have still NEVER tried Earl Grey?

Try Jasmine Pearls. Different than Jasmine Green Tea, it has a wonderful scent and a really light flavor. I’m not a huge fan of the darker more bitter teas so this is one of my favorites.

I wish I could attach a picture of my desk at work and the PILE of tea on it! One of my favorites is Trader Joe’s Herbal Peppermint Tea. So refreshing in the middle of the day. Tj’s also has a mango tea that really good too!

If you start drinking loose leaf tea, you NEED a infuser like the Teavana Perfect Tea Maker. Easiest way to make and clean up loose leaf.

Yeah, I definitely need to get an infuser or something. My tea ball lets all the little leaves out into the tea…a mouthful of leaves at the end of the drink is not pleasant!

I drink my tea straight. My favourite is Forever Nuts from David’s Tea. It’s dee-lish! That said, I haven’t met one of David’s Teas that I haven’t liked.

It’s fairly new. The stores are only in Canada, but they ship internationally. Here’s the link – http://www.davidstea.com/
My favourites are Forever Nuts, Organic Hojicha Creme, and Super Chocolate.

We toured the Celestial Seasonings factory on our last vacation! I fell in love with Almond Sunset, it tastes JUST like a tea I had as a kid at my sister’s farm. I like it with a tiny bit of sugar YUM!

It’s in Colorado! They have the best tour! And then you go to the tasting room where you can try EVERY SINGLE one of their teas!! It was fabulous!

I’m not a huge tea drinker, but I am a HUGE fan of Yogi Green Tea. I’m trying to transition our of my coffee in the morning (I do creamer…the real stuff!) and I hate “wasting” the calories on a beverage. I love green tea at night though…mmm!

Sounds like me! Initially I only liked chai tea, and then my tastes slowly expanded :)

I don’t like tea! BUT I did discover a “mint medley” by Bigelow that I LOVE! It’s a combo of peppermint and spearmint. I have been drinking it instead of coffee the past few days. GASP!

Hmm..I’ll have to try that one!

I will probably have lots of tea with me this weekend, if you want to try some of my faves to see what you like :)

I will need to pick this one up the next time at TJ’s, I think… three people have recommended it to me in the past 2 days!

I don’t drink too much tea, but when I do it is this kind my Mom got me to help me sleep. I grew up ADD and while I grew out of it, I still get overly hyper sometimes. The tea is a melatonin tea by Herbal Authority and it definitely will knock you out!
