The Little Things #41

Too often, we get caught up in our day to day routines and forget to appreciate the little things in life.  In my
Little Things series, I like to honor the details that are making me happy today, and ask you to do the same!

The Little Things making me happy today are…

1. I’ve got a new Little Things badge that is more in keeping with the new blog design! Code is below if you want to update.

2. My newest article on SheSpeaks is up! Six Unique Foodie Wedding Gifts!

3. And so is my newest article on, Achieving Balance As A College Student.
4. We got all our tomatoes, peppers, beans and peas planted this weekend! The zucchini should be going in soon.

5. I couldn’t resist picking up this little guy at the garden store. LIME BASIL! It honestly smells and tastes like lime. I’ve heard of lemon basil, but never lime.
PS: I believe I have a basil problem. There are 8 plants in the garden right now, and multiple seedlings almost ready to plant…

6. Strawberry season is FINALLY here. I picked 13.5 pounds yesterday morning. Six pounds have been made into preserves, a few pounds are being frozen, a cup is being baked into strawberries and cream scones, and the rest are set aside for eating fresh. Yay strawberries!

Mmm I’ve never heard of lime basil either and I think I have a basil problem. My left overs from my lunch yesterday (fish tacos) are making me a happy camper right now!

I’m up to my eyeballs in strawberries too! I’ve just been eating them fresh…although I do a bubbly drink by blending a half-pint with a tablespoon of sugar and mixing with lemon calistoga 50:50, then topping with a squeeze of fresh lemon. Most refreshing.

I slice them first. I have a post on freezing strawberries coming up this week!
