I was recently chosen to review Don’t Trust Your Eyes, by Linwood Barclay, for BlogHer Book Club.
After two 5-star reviews for the BlogHer Book Club, the winning streak sadly came to an end. I was intrigued by the premise behind Trust Your Eyes, in which a map-obsessed schizophrenic inadvertently discovers evidence of a murder and enlists his brother’s help in investigating it, but unfortunately, I found the writing to be stilted and the storytelling to be awkward. While the interaction between the brothers was interesting, the love side story came seemingly out of nowhere. Not only were many of the relationships underdeveloped, but the characters seemed rough and unidentifiable. This book was a quick read, and may be a decent option when you want an easy vacation book, but overall, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Final Rating: 2 out of 5 stars. See more of my book reviews here.

Disappointing! I usually really enjoy Barclay’s books…
