You’re Invited!

You are invited to join Heather, Evan and I for Macaroon Monday!

What is Macaroon Monday?

Yesterday, Heather tweeted that she really wanted to learn to make French Macaroons (or macarons) soon. Evan and I readily agreed that we, too, wanted to make them.

As Heather wrote last night,

One of my favorite things about blogging is that I try things I wouldn’t otherwise. I’ve wanted to make French macaroons for years, but always put it off because I thought it was too hard for me.

Perhaps there’s something you’ve been meaning to try to make that’s a little outside your comfort zone. Maybe your missing a key ingredient to make an Indian dish, or maybe you’ve never successfully baked anything in your life. Maybe you want to roast a chicken or bake bread from scratch.

So, she created Macaroon Monday. Between now and Monday, November 8, the three of us will be learning to make macarons. We invite all of our readers to join us!

You don’t have to make macarons. You can make anything that is new to you that you’ve been afraid to try.

We hope you will join us for Macaroon Monday! Send the link to your blog post or the story about your experience to Heather by 10 pm on Monday, November 8, (hangrypants@gmail.com – subject: Macaroon Monday.) She will be awarding a prize to three of you!

What will you make for Macaroon Monday?

What a fun idea! How weird, I just got a food dehydrator and have been wanting to make macaroons actually! Do you have a good recipe?

I think we are thinking of different kinds of macaroons, actually! I’ll be making the delicate sandwich cookie kind, but the coconut kind is awesome and could totally be your submission for Macaroon Monday! :)

Oh, sweet! I would love to try those type of macaroons, too. Can’t wait to
see how your experiment goes :) I will have to hunt down a coconut macaroon
recipe.

Not trying to be a pill, but macarons and macaroons are different confections. The French take them very seriously, as I learned. :)

So, I would totally make macarons, but then I couldn’t eat them, and that makes me a sad, sad girl… so, I’m going to master how to make a loaf of GF bread.
and then I shall slatter the warm bread with earth balance and do a happy, happy dance :)

Every macaron recipe I’ve seen is gluten free – they use almond meal. So you should make them.
